Approximately 1 in 3 women and 1 in 9 men will experience physical abuse at the hands of an intimate partner in their lifetime. Even more experience verbal, emotional, financial and/or other forms of abuse every single day. With nearly 20 years of experience advocating for victims and Survivors of domestic and sexual violence, I am uniquely aware of the difficulties one faces when deciding “No More” and look to escape the Cycle of Violence.
Idaho LEAP stands ready to offer compassion, knowledge and advocacy to our clients whom have experienced violence at home with legal help, including:
Civil Protection Orders: Assist in all aspects of obtaining a civil protection order to protect those physically assaulted or threatened by an intimate partner or family members or in the instance of stalking.
Divorce/Custody/Paternity: The decision to leave a relationship involving domestic violence can be dangerous and confusing. We can help throughout the legal process - whether it is a divorce or establishing a custody order for a child born outside of a marriage.
Establish physical custody and visitation schedules.
Ensure their safety through supervised visitation or other limitations.
Determine who will make important decisions regarding your child(ren) and access to information about them.
Obtaining court orders for permission to move to a new city/state with your children.
Seeking court orders to ensure both you and your children are safe, including exclusive possession of the marital home or limiting interaction between you and your spouse.
Establishing child support orders.
Obtaining court orders to ensure bills are paid and necessities are taken care of pending your divorce.
Seeking spousal support for long term stability.
Secure your fair share of income and assets.
Termination of Parental Rights: Sometimes the continued parent/child relationship is inappropriate and/or dangerous. In these circumstances, we can help permanently end the parental rights of the other parent.
